At Il Granaio Authentic Italian Restaurant, our mission is pretty simple: Authentic Food, Genuine Hospitality.
First, we begin with fresh local ingredients combined with homemade pasta and authentic Italian recipes you won't find elsewhere. The next and most crucial piece of our culture is what we like to call genuine hospitality. As the dining experience has evolved, more and more patrons choose to order delivery and take out which is great for convenience but does not create memorable experiences in most cases. Our goal is to bring hospitality back to the dining experience and guests back into our dining rooms.
"A great cuisine is obviously the foundation of any good restaurant, but true success can only be achieved by the relationships we build with our guests." - Bill Constantine (Owner)
Our business stands out because of its pasta (made fresh daily), the amazing and historic grainery it sits in, and most importantly, the staff that makes every guest feel like they are guests in their own home.

Welcome to the Grainery
Welcome to the Grainery
Built in 1942, the Old Town Grainery Building is a historic landmark in Skagit County. You can't miss the 90 foot tower from I-5, and inside, enjoy dining on original hardwoods alongside 12-by-18 inch wood beams that are still present from construction along with soaring 13 foot ceilings.
Italian native Alberto Candivi founded Il Granaio in 2001 after a major renovation had been completed on the building.
Having earned the reputation of Skagit Valley's best authentic Italian restaurant year after year, Il Granaio incorporates the flavors of fresh, local ingredients into traditional Italian recipes. Complementing the menu is an outdoor patio seating.
Il Granaio features a warm, inviting atmosphere that can accommodate private parties, business meetings, presentations, delivery & carryout, or an intimate dinner.
A Message From Our Restaurant Owner, Bill Constantine
A Message From Our Restaurant Owner, Bill Constantine
Restaurants have been my life as long as I can remember. Both my parents worked in restaurants as well as my sisters and I from a very young age. There was always a feeling of warmth and comfort working alongside family and friends while serving guests as if they were in our home. I have built some of my most cherished friendships while in this industry over the last 25 years.
I have worked in corporate and non-corporate restaurants as a general manager and as a multi-unit leader for the last 15 years but the best and most impactful experience for me will always be washing dishes at my uncles restaurant at the age of 15. If you want to understand how a restaurant really operates, start in the dish area.
I have a strong passion for Mediterranean cuisine as my family and I have have strong roots in Greece, primarily on the island of Crete. So when I met Alberto Candivi and experienced his recipes first hand, I was sold. This was the right place for me and Il Granaio felt like home. Alberto and I transitioned in late November 2020 but his legacy will live on through his incredible mouth watering menu creations and the warm caring culture embodied by the entire staff at Il Granaio.
Hope to see you soon! -Bill
Founder Alberto Candivi
Founder Alberto Candivi
Alberto Candivi, Il Granaio’s founder, was born and raised in the Italian town of San Colombano al Lambro, just outside of Milan. At the age of 14, he decided to pursue his love of cooking and began his formal education at a culinary academy in nearby Carpi.
After graduation, Alberto gained professional and creative experience throughout Italy and Scotland. He later moved to California in 1984, wanting to experience life in America. It was in Beverly Hills that he had the honor of overseeing the grand opening of Emporio Armani Express (i.e., fashion designer Giorgio Armani's first venture) as a restauranteur.
Eventually, Alberto decided to work toward his ultimate goal of owning his own restaurant, away from the fast pace of Southern California. The landscape and climate of the Skagit Valley reminded him of his home in San Colombano al Lambro, and the newly renovated Grainery Building was the perfectly unique setting. Il Granaio opened for business in 2001 and has been thriving ever since.
